Slowly but surely!

So tonight I was not able to sculpt as much because David showed us how to make some sculpting tools. It was awesome because we got to use a torch and heat metal up till it turned red! It was like we were in the mid evil times. Also I realized I have been a bit timid putting the clay on when I sculpt, so the later part of the class I started being more aggressive with it. I cant wait till next class, I think I will progress much more, I am starting to get the hang of it.

more portrait sculpting

So tonight was the 3rd night, just more layering and layering! A lot of observing, it was tough! It is a very different approach that I would have though, but it allows for a lot of control. Anyway not much to say, i am sure it doesn't look a whole lot different, but it is i promise!!

2nd day of portrait sculpture class

Today I had my second class, and in the first one he went over how he makes his armatures, takes measurements, and other stuff. So today I started with this.

Today I started laying clay on heavily. He suggest we start out by getting his profile in, and then drawing on top of the clay to keep track of everything, then slowly build up. As you can see, i just barely started building the volumes up on the inside. Hopefully with the next 8 classes I can get this looking good. It is a lot of fun!

Round 1 complete.

Pretty happy with it so far. But man as always it is tough!

So it begins!
